Seeking: Senior PHP Developer
Goram and Vincent is looking to expand its Magento 2 development team with the addition of a new Senior PHP Developer.
Who are we?
Goram & Vincent is an ecommerce agency specialising in design, build and optimisation for our clients and partners. We’re responsible for web stores and infrastructure that deliver in excess of £60m in revenue a year for our clients around the globe. We currently develop and deploy into markets around the world as geographically diverse as Mexico and New Zealand with anything in between.
What are we looking for?
We’re seeking PHP developers to join our vibrant in-house Magento development team on a permanent basis. If you know Magento already then great! But if not, don’t worry, full training and certification will be provided. We’re just looking for great PHP developers who can navigate a framework or two. After that we’re confident we can help you get up to speed with Magento and, dare say it, help you enjoy it!
Through a bit of DevOps and automation, we’ve done away with many of Magento’s pain points and you can largely get on with just building features, and you know… writing PHP.
We have a high-value roadmap of work coming in all the time with a focus very much on bespoke development and features that should keep even the most ambitious PHP developer entertained. So, this isn’t some thankless agency CMS developer role, merely servicing a relentless backlog of issues.
At the centre of this, we’re supporting one of the most progressive home technology brands in the world today, helping them to develop their direct to consumer offering in emerging and established markets all over the globe. If you’ve ever dreamed of working with a genuinely huge brand that really understands technology and the development process, this is your chance.
Is this you?
PHP MVC/framework style development will be your primary task. In terms of frontend development, you should be able to meet a frontend developer in the middle and cover the basics. However, we don’t expect you to be able to smash out a pattern library or two, or build a full design system. If you think of yourself as truly full-stack, and the PHP/Backend side of things is really up to scratch, that will be of particular interest to us though.
After that you’d ideally have a good grasp on navigating the rest of the LAMP/LEMP stack (don’t worry, actual config, setup and deployment is automated). If you’re interested, just curious, or have real world experience with cloud infrastructure (such as AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) and DevOps practices, that would be nice to have and we can provide opportunities to get to grips with Ansible and AWS should you wish.
Technology aside, we like folk that are keen and able to learn new things quickly. We like adaptable, creative, nurturing team players who are curious, ambitious and understand the importance of supporting the wellbeing and progress of the wider team. We like those who can recognise the value in a job well done, while being pragmatic and knowing when to pick their battles. Rockstars, Ninjas and “10x developers” need not apply.
Practical experience working in teams on large websites or mature digital products with multiple integrations and dependencies, and a healthy, robust contribution and release culture, will catch our attention. If the thought of juggling multiple modules/repositories through composer, and working in a gitflow style as part of a wider team terrifies you, this one might not be for you.
However, if you like the sound of the above, coupled with a wonderful, relaxed working environment, and you’re ready to help us crack on and ship some feature – we’d love to hear from you!
About Goram & Vincent
Goram & Vincent celebrated 10 years in business last year. And in that time we’ve evolved and adapted from being a traditional design and print agency to the specialist ecommerce powerhouse we are today. We specialise in helping exciting and established brands move towards selling direct to consumers.
We’re on a fantastic trajectory with three consecutive years of impressive but manageable growth, and no sign of slowing down this year. We’re about to move into a fantastic new office which should support us in our next chapter of growth, and is a clear sign of the confidence we have as an agency. It shows the investment we’re prepared to make in maintaining a productive environment for our cherished team.
We’ve recently been awarded Magento Business Solution Partner status by Adobe which is a huge milestone for us. It’s confirmation of the hard work we’ve been doing over the last few years and opens up so many new opportunities in the ecommerce space.
